A thrilling story about friendship, loyalty, and revenge When he was outcast, Torak was the hunted one. Nine moons later he becomes the hunter when he vows to avenge the killing of one of his closest friends. Racked by guilt and grief, he follows the killer into the Deep Forest, where the World Spirit stalks the hidden valleys as a tall man with the antlers of a stag. But there is a rottenness at the heart of the Forest, for its clans have succumbed to the lies of the Soul-Eaters. Here, Torak must face fire, war, and overwhelming evil. Oath Breaker is a story about keeping promises and the true cost of vengeance.

The fifth and penultimate book in this brilliant series , set in Prehistoric times . Torak is grief stricken when one of his closest friends dies . He quickly realizes that murder has been done . Torak vows to avenge the killing and sets off into the Forest . The Forest however is not how he remembers it , for a terrible evil has infiltrated it's heart . Torak will be in incredible danger if he is to achieve his oath of vengeance.Sometimes vengeance is not always the right path to take Will

I wanted to give this book 10 stars!!! Oh my god...THIS BOOK IS AMAZING! I am crying, my heart has exploded and I am so in love with this series it hurts...Unlike Outcast the storyline took a very different turn, this book was much darker and much more intense than any previous books, but this is what made it so good, as well as the countless adorable moments! I cannot recommend this series enough to people!! It's just got to be one of the best children's series ever and more people NEED to read

Torak has no clue his journey to the deep forest with Renn to avenge his kinsmans death would lead to unveiling of his story untold.Paver does an amazing job to keep up readers enthusiasm till the end 👏🤓

CHRONICLE OF ANCIENT DARKNESS - BOOK 5: OATH BREAKER by Michelle PaverOath Breaker is about a boy who lived in prehistoric times and had to learn to survive on his own. His father has died and he has been outcast from any clan. When Torak's best friend is killed, he swears vengence and goes after the killer along with another best friend and her uncle. I loved how the author enabled us to see what life was like back then and to see how people saw and interpreted their world. It was fascinating

Dark as ever, wonderful as usual. Very sad beginning, very nice ending. Now the adventure roamed in the Deep Forest. Wonder where the next place will be, since Torak had practically wandered everywhere, in about 2 years according to the book. Is it possible to travel from mountain to open forest to sea to highest peaks to deep forest in so short a time? Anyway, I don't really care, because this series is so good.

More action and better flow make Oath Breaker stand out over other books in the series. More back story gets filled in. More character development. And relationship struggles continue to be a theme. Though how Michelle Paver points out the irritating, self deflating dance humans go through to find and affirm our mates is humorously called out by wolf in this book, perhaps as a nod how frustrating it is in real life. And dumb.
