This is the third book in the Grant County series by Karin Slaughter. We catch up with Sara, Jeffrey and Lena and of course theres a death in town. Ive read this book before and loved it back then, as much as now. Its not the best in the series, but that in no way detracts from the awesomeness of Sara and Jeffreys case solving skills. Karin writes this like the rest of her books, with suspense, gore and mystery. It isnt for the faint hearted like nearly all her books they are graphic andI really enjoyed re-reading this 3rd novel in her Grant County series.
Sara and Jeffrey I love how you solve crimes together. Their character development continues to progress nicely. I love learning more about each as a person and as a couple.An Apparent Suicide at a local college campus brings Sara to the scene but she is not alone, she has her pregnant sister in tow. My least favourite so far. What started with a great opening chapter (poor Tessa!!) devolved into revisiting everything we'd already experienced in the interplay of the character dynamics but instead of moving forward, as this took place seven months after the previous book and a whole year since the first, we were literally right where we were from the series opener. But worse because of the emotional trauma and baggage from those first installments. There seems to be some hope for book four

I think I'm going to have to give back my English Lit degree. I don't know how I got to book three in this series without realizing that half the characters are named after characters in Wuthering Heights. Really? Hareton Earnshaw? Cathy and "Eddie" Linton? It's useless to argue that I'm just reading this series out of boredom because I am clearly working my way through the Grant county series.
